• The Position

    Serve as the director of the Laboratory training programs; maintain and develop curriculum and training in cooperation with the School Director. Develop and maintain training programs such as NAACLS approved CLS and MLT programs.

  • Role
    • Provide general supervision of all campus instructor personnel.
    • Maintain instructor schedules.
    • Assist the School Director in organizing community promotion activities.
    • Be responsible for maintaining NAACLS, national and State approved programs.
    • Monitor student learning within the classroom.
    • If needed, professionally prepare course work, course outlines, handouts and teach assigned courses according to established CIMS approved curriculum.
    • Monitor syllabi content and program cohesion for all CIMS courses.
    • Coordinate and attend all program director, and other required meetings.
    • Support (by offering advice and consultation) marketing and public relations initiatives for programs.
    • Develop and sustain relationships with local hospitals and agencies for the purpose of fostering high quality fieldwork placements and building professional partnerships.
    • Maintain an understanding of changes in state and federal legislation that affect the program and attend state conferences that update trends and pending legislation.
    • Maintain professional memberships and professional development.
  • In consultation with School Director
    • Oversee admission of candidates to the Laboratory programs.
    • Recruit, support, and work with adjunct teaching and supervising faculty.
    • Lead the academics activities of the faculty within the program and monitor the performance of the program, in conjunction with the School Director.
    • Initiate recommendations regarding program planning, course scheduling, and faculty assignments with the program, in conjunction with the School Director.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Must hold a valid certification/license as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist.
    • Master’s degree.
    • 3-5 years of experience in clinical laboratory science education that includes teaching courses, conducting, and managing learning experience, evaluating student achievement and competencies,
    • Providing input into curriculum development, policy and procedure formulation, and evaluation of program effectiveness.
    • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
    • Possess knowledge of education methods and administration, general human resource/personnel management.
    • Ability to supervise and evaluate of personnel, as well as current accreditation and certification procedures.
    • Possess experience working with a personal computer, using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (e-mail usage).
  • Preference
    • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
