• The Position

    Under the direction and supervision of the Campus Director or designee the Program Coordinator will provide instruction and overall management of the Nurse Assistant and Home Health Aid programs.

  • Example of Duties
    • Responsible for the overall coordination of the Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide Program.
    • Assist in the development and ensure implementation of the DHS-approved Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aid Program curriculum, for the State of California.
    • Review, update and evaluate the Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aid Program curriculum for the State of California, to maintain compliance with DHS standards.
    • Recruit and maintain training sites within the community.
    • Maintain CIMS accreditation documentation.
    • Assure the departmental operations are in regulatory compliance with required regulations.
    • Must be available to respond immediately when CDPH Health Facilities Evaluator Nurse makes surprise visits to the campus or extern site.
    • Coordinate the Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aid department to work within the operating budget and control expenses within established parameters.
    • Recommend program budget expenditures; schedule classes and part-time instructors.
    • Organize classroom and clinical placements.
    • Maintain records.

  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of California.
    • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
    • Associates Degree in Nursing.
    • A minimum of three (3) years in Nursing, with a minimum of two years of full-time experience as a licensed Nurse, AND at least one (1) year of which must be in the provision of direct patient care in a nursing facility (also long-term care facility).
    • One (1) year full time employment with the Home Health Agency or a Public Health Nurse certificate by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
    • Clinical competence.
    • Evidence of continuing education and self-development. Within six (6) months of employment and prior to teaching a certification program, obtain a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education courses in planning, implementing, and evaluation of educational programs in Nursing. These courses must be administered by an accredited educational institution and approved by the Board of Registered Nursing. A transcript of successfully completed courses shall be sent to the Department of California Code of Regulations (CCR). A copy will be kept on file in Personnel.
    • Proof of 24-hour BRN-approved DSD class or transcript of college courses related to education program in Nursing.
    • Possess a current CPR/First Aid card.
    • Possess a valid and appropriate California driver’s license.
  • Preference
    • B.S. degree.
    • One (1) year of experience in planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs in Nursing.
    • Two years’ experience that includes teaching courses, conducting and managing learning experience, evaluating student achievement and competencies, providing input into curriculum development, policy and procedure formulation, and evaluation of program effectiveness; possess knowledge of education methods and administration, general human resource/personnel management, supervision and evaluation of personnel, as well as current accreditation and certification procedures.
    • Experience caring for pediatric and geriatrics patients.
    • Bilingual (Spanish/English).
